With only days to go in the transfer window, a number of players who were expected to switch clubs this summer still need to be moved on.
Liverpool were expected to sell a number of fringe players at the beginning of the summer, and while some such as Dejan Lovren have left, the likes of Marko Grujic and Harry Wilson remain at the club.
However, they may not be there for much longer as Goal are claiming that bids have come in for the pair, while also naming numerous clubs who are interested in Wilson.
Leeds are amongst the interested sides named in Neil Jones’ report, and the idea of the Welshman playing under Bielsa is mouth-watering due to his incredible technical ability.
Wilson has shown that he is amongst the cleanest strikers of a ball in England, with the youngster building up an incredible highlight reel over the past two seasons while out on loan at both Derby and Bournemouth where he scored a combined 25 goals.
His scoring antics haven’t escaped the attention of Jurgen Klopp, who actually went as far as to call him a world-class shooter.
“His shooting is world-class. Find me five players who shoot better than him. That is obvious, but the game is about more and that is what he has to improve and that is clear,” Klopp said.
Of course, long-range shooting isn’t all that you need as a midfielder, with passing and link-up play just as important in the modern game, and Klopp has previously tipped him to take that area of his game to the next level:
“To be involved as an offensive player you have to connect with other players. He has that, it is not like he doesn’t, but to get to the next level, he needs game time at the highest level and that is why we loaned him to Bournemouth.”
Wilson certainly has the technical ability to be a top-class playmaker, as shown by his incredible control when striking the ball, but his understanding with other players may need some work, and there is no better manager to bring that along than Marcelo Bielsa, who has previously been described by Pep Guardola as the best coach in the world.
Much like Leeds’ current chief creator, Pablo Hernandez, Wilson is just as adept playing out wide as he is through the middle, and with the Spaniard being 12 years older than the Liverpool man, he could end up being his long-term successor.
The pair share a lot of attributes, with Hernandez loving a strike from range and also being proficient from dead-ball situations, and while Wilson doesn’t quite have the eye for a pass that Hernandez possesses, that is something that could easily come with time and experience, especially if he works under a gaffer like Bielsa.
